come together, in a family atmosphere to participate in the true art of collaboration. Through various workshops, panels, networking events, exhibitions, and displays, attendees get to share their, creative workshops and knowledge. Writing Sessions America's founder, Kevin Shine, and this year's honorary Chairperson, Nina Teapot Owen, invites singers, songwriters, producers, and engineers to come fellowship and learn what it takes to become an indie-prenuer and showcase their brands. The conference kicks off on Thursday, November 10th at Tech Hill Commons with Keynote Speaker Rissi Palmer, an American country music artist. Palmer debuted in 2007 with the single "Country Girl", which made her the first African American woman to chart a country song since Dona Mason in 1987. The conversation will cover how Rissi has influenced music's evolution throughout her career in Country Music.

The Icon Awards is the UME Conference's premier red-carpet event held on Friday, November 11th, 2022, at the Analog (Hutton Hotel). It is an evening celebrating singers/songwriters table industry insiders, music executives, community tastemakers, producers, aspiring singers, and songwriters for their pioneering efforts, commitment to excellence, and trailblazing spirit. This year's honorees are Gina Waters Miller - Senior Vice President and General Manager at MNRK Music Group, Henry B Hicks III - President & CEO of the National Museum of African American Music Nashville, TN, Sheri Hauck - Vocal & Performance Coach - Singer-Songwriter, Tara-Griggs Magee- President -Dare Records, Rita Green- Urban One/Radio One On Air Personality/Talent, Terry Bello -Sr Music Media Consultant/ Programmer - Nashville, and Dupré "Doitall" Kelly - Legendary Recording Artist/ Councilman - Newark New Jersey. During the conference, some of Nashville's best local high school and college students will be highlighted and recipients of the "Celebrating the Pursuit of Excellence'' program for their musical gifts and talents.

UME's closeout speaker this year is Eric Holt, CEO of Chiminus Enterprise and manager partner of a subsidiary concert promotions company, The Lovenoise Group. Holt will shed light on his journey and contribution to Nashville's live performance world on Saturday, November 12th, at the 404 Bar and Grill at 8:00 pm.

This year's honorary chairperson, Nina "Teapot" Owens, is honored to break barriers within Music City being the first woman of color to bring a national music conference to her hometown of Nashville, Tn, "The Songwriter Capital of the World."
