He received his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry Degree from Hebrew University, where he graduated in the top 10% of his class and was awarded the Student Award for Excellence in Restorative Dentistry.

There are only 3,200 prosthodontists (2%) in the United States, and Dr. Penchas is one of them. He completed his specialization in prosthodontics -- the field of dentistry related to artificial dental appliances -- at Louisiana State University. Simultaneously, he earned his Master's Degree in Education at The University of New Orleans.

Thereafter, Dr. Penchas completed a fellowship in dental oncology (cancer treatment) and maxillofacial prosthetics at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. 

From 1995-1996, he was a full-time clinical assistant professor of prosthodontics at the University of Texas. Then, from 2010 to 2012, he was a WREB (Western Regional Examining Board) dental program examiner.

Among his professional dental affiliations, Dr. Penchas is a member of the American Dental Association and the Texas Dental Association.
