Dubai, United Arab Emirates, October 23, 2026 -- FinanceFeeds Highlights Consolidation and Multi-Asset Expansion Reshaping the Online Brokerage Industry

FinanceFeeds is examining how acquisitions, client-book transfers, multi-asset product expansion and growing institutional businesses are changing the structure of the retail and online brokerage sector.

FinanceFeeds, an independent financial news and analysis platform covering online trading, fintech, payments and market infrastructure, is highlighting the structural changes reshaping the online brokerage industry, as firms pursue acquisitions, broaden their product ranges and place greater emphasis on institutional and business-to-business revenue.

The online brokerage industry has historically been characterized by a large number of firms offering similar products, including foreign exchange, contracts for difference, indices and commodities, distributed through comparable trading platforms. Competition centered on spreads, platform features, marketing and regulatory permissions in key jurisdictions. That model is changing. Rising compliance costs, the expense of acquiring customers and growing demand for broader product access are encouraging firms to reconsider their scale, their structure and their sources of revenue.

Acquisitions and Client-Book Transfers

Consolidation has become one of the clearest signs of that change. FinanceFeeds reported in October that AvaTrade agreed to acquire the majority of FXCM’s business and brand as Jefferies exits the brokerage business, a transaction announced only days after Trade Nation agreed to acquire FXCM’s UK client book from Stratos Markets Limited.

Together, the transactions show how a long-established brand can be separated into different components, with client relationships, regulated entities, technology and brand rights potentially ending up with different owners. For customers, the practical questions concern which entity will hold their accounts, which platforms they will use and how protections and terms may change. For the industry, such deals illustrate that client books and regulatory licenses have become valuable assets in their own right.

Client-book acquisitions can offer buyers faster growth than marketing because they bring customers with established trading experience. But they also require careful migration, communication and retention efforts, since experienced traders tend to compare execution, pricing, financing and service closely.

The Push Toward Multi-Asset Platforms

Alongside consolidation, many brokers are broadening the range of products they offer. Customers who once maintained separate accounts for derivatives, stocks, exchange-traded funds and other products are increasingly being offered a single application and a single funding relationship.

FinanceFeeds covered how Plus500 agreed to buy a U.S. broker to add stocks to its super-app, a move intended to take the company into the SEC-regulated securities segment of the US market alongside its existing futures operations. The transaction, which remains subject to closing conditions including FINRA approval, reflects a broader strategy of combining futures, stocks, options, ETFs and other products within one platform.

The commercial logic is engagement and retention: a wider product set gives customers more reasons to stay with one provider through different market conditions. The challenge is execution. Each asset class carries its own regulatory framework, risk management requirements and operational processes, and integrating them into a coherent customer experience requires significant investment.

Multi-asset expansion also changes the customer profile brokers serve. Platforms that once focused on active traders of leveraged products are increasingly courting longer-term investors who want stocks and ETFs alongside trading products. That brings different expectations around custody, corporate actions, tax reporting and investor protection, and it requires firms to present products with very different risk characteristics in a way customers can clearly tell apart.

Institutional and B2B Business Gains Weight

A third trend is the growing importance of institutional and business-to-business activity. Several established retail brokers now generate substantial revenue by providing liquidity, technology, white-label platforms and prime services to other firms.

FinanceFeeds reported on how CMC Markets retired the CMC Connect brand as its B2B business became a core growth engine. CMC said in its FY2026 results that a majority of group income now comes from institutional and B2B platform partnerships, and the company says it powers more than 300 B2B partnerships globally. Its unified institutional proposition spans liquidity provision, API and white-label technology, investment infrastructure, prime brokerage and capital-markets access.

The shift suggests that, for some firms, the infrastructure built to serve their own retail customers has become a product that can be distributed to others. It also means that competition in the brokerage sector increasingly takes place at two levels: among consumer-facing brands, and among the technology and liquidity providers that power them.

For smaller brokers, the growth of B2B providers lowers the barrier to entry. A firm can launch with white-label technology, external liquidity and outsourced back-office services rather than building each component itself. That can increase competition at the front end of the market even as consolidation reduces the number of independent firms at the infrastructure level.

What the Changes Mean for the Industry

These developments have implications for regulators, customers and industry participants. Consolidation can strengthen the financial resilience of acquiring firms and create economies of scale in compliance and technology. It can also reduce choice in some markets and create transition risks for customers whose accounts are transferred.

Multi-asset expansion can improve convenience, but it requires firms to manage a wider range of risks and to explain different product characteristics clearly. Growth in B2B services creates new interdependencies, as many retail brands may come to rely on a smaller number of underlying infrastructure providers.

Regulators are likely to pay close attention to how client transfers are handled, how customer money and assets are protected during transitions and whether firms that broaden their product ranges have the systems and expertise to support them. For customers, the practical step is to read communications about account transfers carefully and understand which entity will hold their funds after a transaction completes.

FinanceFeeds’ Coverage Focus

FinanceFeeds will continue to follow mergers and acquisitions, licensing developments, product launches, financial results and strategic changes across the retail and institutional brokerage sectors. Its reporting examines not only which transactions are announced but also what they contain, which questions remain unanswered and what the developments may mean for customers, competitors and regulators.

As the brokerage industry adapts to higher costs, changing customer expectations and new technology, FinanceFeeds aims to provide the context industry professionals need to understand how the sector’s structure is evolving and where the next phase of competition is likely to emerge.

One-stop shop for PH products gets designer-led update

Filipino craftsmanship and creativity was on full display at the launch on Thursday of Kultura Atelier at SM Makati. The one-stop shop of the country’s largest department store chain is known for its wide range of Philippine-made products ranging from comestibles to clothes.  It is also a favorite shopping destination of returning Filipinos who want to take a piece of home back to their country of work. Many tourists also make a beeline to Kultura for souvenirs of their time in the tropics.  With the opening of Kultura Atelier, shoppers now have more options when an event calls for elevated Filipiniana. At the mini fashion show to mark the launch last week, the designers who were tapped to join Kultura’s roster presented pieces from their collection now available in store.  Daryl Maat showed updates to his playful redesign of the short-sleeved barong. Instead of traditional scrollwork or geometric designs, Maat’s features kid-style line drawings stitched in colored embroidery thread. Former professional model Alvin Degamo of Wear Your Culture was wearing one of his own pieces that afternoon, a denim jacket with fabric insets featuring embroidery inspired by the Manobos of Mindanao. He said his pieces are limited because it takes time for the weavers to finish a panel and send it to him.  Degamo then sends the panel to Lumban, Laguna to be embroidered by sewers he has long worked with. “I want to give the pieces from Wear Your Culture something more. Rather than use a woven panel as is, I have it embroidered or hand painted so the finished product stands out from others like it,” Degamo said.  Veteran Cebu-based designer Phillip Rodriguez has also thrown his hat into the retail shopping ring with Isla by Filippo. His elegant pieces shown that afternoon included a red terno ensemble with fabric that featured a solihya-like pattern.  Rodriguez also presented two black barong Tagalog that looked sleek and had a slimming effect.  Other brands and designers that are now part of Kultura Atelier include Fam Ph, Goodluck Humans, Harold and Harry, Jo-Rel Espina, Ken Samudio, Martin Uy, Rodolfo by Puey Quinones, Sari Lazaro, Tim Tam Ong and Zarah Juan. The festivities that afternoon extended beyond the runway with a perfume bar by Tadhana Fragrance, and jewelry customization by Nazrea Pearls. Kultura Atelier and Kultura at SM Makati still share the same space but the former  consists mainly of designer apparel and fashion accessories while the latter carries home decor and food items. In praise of the coconut There are dozens of food and decorative items for sale this weekend at the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) National Trade Fair. This time the coconut is in the spotlight with a wide range of food items ranging from coconut leaf-wrapped suman and extra virgin coconut oil to beaded hanging lamps and Christmas decor made of the tree’s different elements.  As the second coconut-focused trade fair this year, the initiative highlights the versatility of the Philippine coconut industry through innovative products in food, wellness, beauty, textiles, home essentials and handicrafts. The fair is open free to the public until Sunday and is a good place to jumpstart Christmas shopping.  Beyond showcasing local ingenuity, however, the fair opens doors for MSMEs and coconut farmer-beneficiaries to connect with institutional buyers, retailers and consumers, expanding their market reach and business opportunities.

Five decades of healthcare excellence, compassion and service

The hospital marked five decades of dedicated health care, compassionate service and a lasting commitment to providing quality medical care through its enduring mission, “Alagang Perpetual.” The celebration brought together distinguished guests, health care professionals, awardees and friends of the institution for a memorable evening that paid tribute to the people whose dedication and achievements have helped shape the medical center’s legacy. It was not only a celebration of the institution’s golden milestone but also a recognition of the people behind its continued success. Hosted by beauty queen Ganiel Krishnan, the occasion was graced by personalities including Alice Dixson, Joey Generoso of the band Side A, Mags Cue and reigning Miss Universe Philippines Bea Milan Windorski. Their presence added glamour to an evening that blended prestige, appreciation and celebration. Guests enjoyed an elegant dining experience at The Cove, with a choice of beef or salmon prepared for the occasion. The evening also marked the birthday of Antonio Tamayo, who was surrounded by family, friends and distinguished guests. The tribute added a personal dimension to the festivities, bringing together two meaningful occasions: a golden anniversary celebrating a legacy of service and a birthday honoring a respected figure whose presence made the gathering even more significant.
